Shipping & Cargo

Shipping cargo to the island can be a logistical challenge given our isolated location and variability of services.  The following information is meant to be a resource and can change without notice.  the US Postal Service is the primary and most efficient method to ship items to the island, however there are limitations. The City is served by a U.S. Contract Post Office.

Air Cargo Carriers
Alaska Airlines, (907) 592-3121 General, Priority, Goldstreak Service.  Freighter service is provided, on average, once per month.  Dangerous goods can be sent inbound but not off-island.  Contact the carrier for more details.
UPS Inbound service only.  Packages sent via UPS are sent to a local agent or may be sent via Postal Service for final delivery.  Packages may show "delivered" prior to final delivery when the Postal Service is utlized for final delivery.
FedEx Inbound service only.  Packages sent via FedEx are sent via Postal Service for final delivery.  Heavy or large items may be sent via Alaska Airlines Cargo. 
Other Other air cargo carriers can be chartered to the island.  Contact individual carriers for additional information.

 

Marine Cargo
Adak does not have regularly-scheduled surface transportation at this time. When demand is adequate, or chartered, the following companies provide dependable, service to the island for supplies, equipment and materials needed by our residents, businesses and industries:
